Werner & Pfleiderer - Quality Improvement for 135 Years - page 10

In the 20th century, Jürgen Horstmann took Hermann
Werner’s idea from the 19th century and lifted it into a new
dimension. He established the
WP BAKERY
GROUP. In 1989,
he acquired Emil Kemper GmbH from Rietberg, Germany.
This became the cornerstone of today‘s group. Eight years
later, he bought Werner & Pfleiderer, Dinkelsbühl, and WP
Haton. The Dutchmanufacturer of bread lines had been part
of Werner & Pfleiderer since 1975. The next acquisition was
WP Industrial Bakery Technologies in Tamm in 1998. The
latest addition to the group was WP Riehle in 2013. The
company from Aalen specializes in frying, sheet/tray
cleaning and lye application.
Many of the subsidiaries have been market leaders in
their sectors for decades, some for more than a century.
As part of the
WP BAKERY
GROUP, they now become the
largest supplier of machines and equipment for bakeries
of any size in the world. 135 years ago, Hermann Werner
for sure did not image this development.
